How can you ensure a smooth production process and flow as a manufacturer?

Processes don't just happen, they have to be designed. Along with product development you also need process development.

In the preproduction stage you can use the 3P tool to design and mock up the process;  test flow in cells and develop thd standard work / training matrices. For engineering you can use design F.M.E.A.s to predict where there could be failures and take steps to minimise the impact. Design the process so that the product cannot be produced out of specification. Fully train the associates in their tasks. 

During the production phase use production data and the experience curve of the associates to continually develop the process. Implement statistical techniques to ensure that the process parameters are always in control. Develop robust preventative maintenance routines, ensure that the process is always available and capable when required to produce. 

You will never get a perfect process but you can minimise disruption by engineering and managing the process. 

Every machine have Production target frequency controler. So machinery target wise production must calculation and take over from machine operator.

To ensure smooth and safe process,the Safe Work Triangle should be met i.e

1.Process Understanding and its associated Hazards.

2.Procedures (start up,shut down & emergency handling)

3.Skilled Team. (which is well versed with above two parameters)

If any one of these elements missing,no one can ensure safe and smooth plant operation.
