Thanks

In my opinion

  • ·         Winner: is the person who has involved in a competition with his-her colleagues & coworkers under management rules, and s-he won this competition.  i.e.; hitting target, mission accomplishment, and task achievement. With low cost, within timeline. So s-he won just because there is a competition or initiative set by his-her management- manager not by him-herself.
  • ·         Gainer: is an employee who has self-initiative.  created, planed, directed, and implemented by him-herself. then s-he gain the award based on his-her initiative or has acquired a right to promote to higher position based on the same reason.

Regards

winner is getting something new.

Gaining is the stage after winning or the feed back of winning

In the event of competitively exercising or displaying corporate muscle between or among some companies, a third party (a company not directly involved) may indirectly reep (gain) the benefits resulting from the others'efforts in exercising or displaying corporate muscle. Consequently in the event of competitvely exercising or displaying corporate muscle between two companies, one of then may reep or emerge winner in the contest.

Winner is very much competitive term.  It comes into play when some or other competitive aspects are very much visual in the market place. Actually it happens in action and reaction scenario.

Winner is definitely linked to time period , duration.

Winner can gain, can lose or both can happen at times.

For example :- A and B are telecom companies offering prepaid services. To be more competitive a price war comes into picture and A  wins by offering lowest call and data rates. Because of lower pricing A gains customer market share but loses out on revenue and profitability.

One major difference , Winner can be only one but gainer can be one, two , three or more. even it can be all the players in the market.

Actually just a few years back all the players in Indian telecom industry were gaining both customer as well as revenue share.

Winner is a battle against other corps but gaining stuff is competing yourself.

Anybody who fights for a cause be it a war or race or match & succeeds it in acheving the same is called a winner & any body who invests in a particular business & gets the benefit or profit from the same is called a gainer.

In simple words I think winner would be going from Zero to 1 in any aspects

gainer is already won in the past, so going from 1 to 1.5
