A highly professional and an experience candidate sounds like a dilemma. But I will let both undergo a series of tests and choose the one with the higher score.

If you meant a highly educated and an experienced candidate, I will choose the highly educated because it will be easier to train him in areas where i need him.

The right candidate must be highly professional AND experienced for a senior role. Your recruiter is supposed to get you good options to choose from and not put you in 'either' / 'or' situations as a hiring manager. You are never obliged to choose between the two that have come for an interview. If you don't like both, reject both and ask for more candidates! Vice versa is also true..  :-)

I sooo agree with Mr. Obaid Ur Rehman, Experience and professionalism you can again over the time but Passion is something you need to have the fire in you to come to work everyday and take up challenges. Thats an extra factor. As a HR we always search the Extra (X) factor a candidate an bring as an employee to the company.
