Make it interesting. As the teacher understands the material to be learnt the student may not. I try to take what is not known and compare it to something that the student understands. Taking a known to an unknown helps to cement the concept. For example when taking about the tallest man I would say, depending on the age, "he would have to bend over to walk through that door way."
