* Coconut Shell can be grouped under light weight aggregate because their 28 days dry densities are less than 2000kg/m3. * From economic point of view, CS are low cost aggregate. * CS are more suitable as low strength giving aggregate when used to replace common coarse aggregate in concrete production. * CS has more resistance against crushing, impact and abrasion compared to crushed granite aggregate. * Addition of CS decreases workability. The use of Flyash may increase workability but can decrease the strength. * The amount of Cement may be more when CS are used as an aggregate in the production of concrete compared to conventional aggregate concrete.
