Usually we consider engineering back ground or qualification holder person as a project manager. As per my opinion Supply Chain Professional have the capabilities or on hand exposure to look after such project successfully, what do you say, if I am correct.
Supply chain & Project manager has different role but they can have a same objective.
project mgt is a multidisplinary programmes the usage of differnt types of resources hr,material, money, time mgt etc.A Good degree in industrial mgt, chain mgt,mgt sc or business can fit in the position.
In project mgt you deal with customer at the begiining like suppliers or contractors and at the end you have customers like the users or final consumers or the external environment.
Engineer qualification can be a plus , but experience is by far important (if background is - of coure - withih the liit of the project):
Supply Chain is a multi disciplinary stream but project management is a stream which needs knowledge of module taught in PMI Project Management certification or Prince2 certification. Engineers are expected to have knowledge of various mathematical models and their applications. So they are prefered for large scale SCM transformation projects.
supply chain i.e planning , forecast , procurement , logistics.
project manger i.e is totally different thing and there role is very typical , i don,t think so supply chain management do this task every task have different way to do .
