What is the difference among MANUFACTURING COSTS DURING THE PERIOD and TOTAL MANUFACTURING COSTS ?

Manufacturing costs during the period are Direct material + Direct labor + indirect manufacturing cost .

When we add beginning work in process  inventory we will got total manufacturing cost .

Manufacturing cost or Production Cost are same.Its include direct material,labor and some other direct overheads .Its also called relevant cost or Variable Costs. So, Total manufacturing cost are consist on Production Cost and Periodic Overheads Cost.

The cost of direct labor refers to the direct labor that contributes to manufacture of a product during the period. And the cost of direct material is the cost of materials used to manufacture of a product during the period. The difference among manufacture during the period overhead cost are the cost not directly related to manufacture of a product during the period being only they contribute.

 

Total manufacturing cost is the total aggregate cost incurred by business expenses by a firm production process during reporting  period.
