You can not get authenticity just by CV. You need to see originals for that at least.

There are a number of ways to verify the authenticity of a candidates educational qualifications, the best method would depend on the companies budget and time constraint.

  1. You can simple do an internet search to verify the existence of the mentioned institution, this is both easy and cost effective. Beware of fraudulent sites and illegitimate educational institutions that offer bogus certificates for a fee.
  2. You can ask the the candidate for a copy of their academic certificate and contact the school directly to verify authenticity. This is time consuming and could be expensive but it is ultimately the best way to ensure authenticity.
  3. You can hire a reputable background screening company who will do all the leg work for you, this may be expensive but will save you time if you have a limited time frame.

  • In my view, we can't completely judge the authenticity of the education details from the resume

  • But, we can assume that the CV will be genuine in terms of education If any aspiring candidate includes education credentials as follows (at least 4 out of the 8 points)

  1. Highest Degree

  2. Specialization

  3. Duration of the program

  4. Name of the University

  5. Year of Passing

  6. Full time / Distance learning

  7. CGPA or % if any

  8. Awards or recognition if any

Before an interview, i review CV and its relevance to the post, if red flags regarding education are raised, then before the interview, i will have any of the here-under options to follow (after consulting with the hiring manager):

1-disregard that particular CV (giving reasons) and continue with other applicants

2- If that CV is highly graded as a top candidate, then, conduct some research regarding the certification, education the candidate claims in his CV

3- ask for reference to verify earning this certification and education

4- If the hiring manager is not convinced, then save time and do not invite this candidate for an interview.

A rule of thump, if the hiring manager does not trust the candidate integrity, then save time and effort and disregard that applicant.

If you are not specialized you should consult one.

For example, if you are shortlisting for an engineering title and you are not an engineer, the interview should contain a HR rep and a specialized engineer.

The term authenticity defend on many factors, but for fast decision we should focues on two main things , > Age of the person compare with education time period, > sequence of passing Grads from start to end ,
