Tools used in lean are as follows

  • 5 s
  • Standardized work
  • Performance Managemnet
  • Kaizen
  • Visual Management
  • TPM

Lean means "Muda" in Japanese. Muda means waste i.e., removing waste from the manufacturing system leads to lean manufacturing. According to Value Stream Mapping the entire manufacturing process is classified into 2 types, 1.Value added time 2. Lead time. The process of reducing Lead time will lead to Lean manufacturing. Lead time is due to 1.Material Availability 2.Inventory 3.Material movement 4.Quality rework 5.Production 6.Material storage etc.

These Lead time can be reduced by some of the tools

1. Heijunka

2. Visual management

3. TPM

4. 5S

5. Kanban

6. JIT

7. Pull Manufacturing System etc.
