How do you decide whether you should use Google Adwords or Facebook Ads?

Cost of link click or engagement on Facebook costs about 0.36AED the same link click on Google would set you back by AED3 or AED4.

If you are competing with other brands for getting into the top 3 ad spots on google it could become expensive soon, on the other hand if you are running a niche website Adwords would be more effective. You need to evalaute how customers find your website and what the bounce rate is.

If you have detailed demographical, behavioral, and/or vocational information about your audience then Facebook will be your friend.

 

Google Adwords has these possible targeting options.

  • Keyword & topic targeting (keywords they use in their Google searches)
  • Interest & affinity (websites they visit and/or emails they read)
  • Basic demographics (age, gender, parent/non-parent, location, etc.)

While Facebook allows you to dig down deeper by targeting people based on these possible parameters:

  • education level
  • job title
  • industry
  • income level
  • single, married, divorced, in a relationship
  • upcoming anniversary
  • digital activities (video game playing)
  • upcoming birthday
  • and so much more

As you can see, Facebook has more detailed targeting options than Google adwords does.

Depending upon the nature of the activity/Campaign i would decide whether we require a lead generation campaign or a brand visibility campaign. Do we require a targeted campaign or a mass media campaign to target everyone. and in the end if would also see if my budgets permits me to do a mass activity or a targeted activity. Basis on these parameters i would decide whether we should go for Google Adwords or Facebook ads
