If i fined a serious mistake in construction, that means the house is not safe enough and need to report to the Real State company i bought the house from, and indeed the real state company need to investigate the other houses if they have the same problem and work on solving the problem technically and to be officiall registerd in the line Local Authority
Ask a third party consultant to double and certify the credibiity of the structure. If there are alteration required due to these mistake. If yes, all expenses needs to be cover by the contractor as part of their responsibility.
Basiclly we will need to define and analyz the problem to determine the effect and then we will be able to make the right decision.

Also I will assum that we already have a professional contract with the contractor so inevitably the contract will included a warranty and maintenance for the contractor.

THE best way to deal with those kind of situations is by being professional .first approach the contractor with a thrd entity presence and discuss the confusion.
