A manager works within defined boundaries, moving men and equipment to meet goals and objectives. A leader takes on the role of instructor, coach and mentor, making sure he gets the best out of his team by knowing their strengths and weaknesses and assigning them to their best role. He/She is involved with his team, empathic to their requirements and ensuring that they get the support they require to complete tasks efficiently, safely and within the time alloted.

The leader is the person who can build an integrated team

The manager is the person who can manage the system

Every leader can be a successful manager but not every manager can be a leader

Leaders have people follow them while Managers have people who work for them.

A Manager should be a Leader and both should be one to push the whole team to success.
