Given its urgent nature, your responsible gives you a verbal instruction to carry out an operation of great importance. What would you do?

Urgent or needs an immediate action,because your responsible you need to act at once,Right? Yes, incase of emergency you can do this especially if you will save a life of a person but act quickly and rationally and be sure after that, you will document all and report it to proper Authority. Another example is,if you are responsible in certain areas or building and it happens that their is a fire or some danger might happen,you must act once by ordering your subordinates verbally to secure the place and help the occupants to vacate the place and communicate to the proper Authority regarding the case.But be sure after that to have a very clear documentations of your report.And submit it to proper Authority.

There are 2 aspects of urgent operation.

1-To save Life/Property: There is no need of written proof or email for confirmation.

2-Operation in a project: You should confirm by written from management.

I will proceed immediately, and after i have finished the transaction, I will send to him an internal e-mail with a copy to our senior manager,confirming to him the complete execution in accordance with his previous verbal instructions and request his disposal feedback.

I will write an email of the details of that project and send it to him for his comments or review. 

usually any verbal instruction that carries high importance decisions or activity should be followed by an email to confirm this instruction by any one of them (the boss or the subordinate).
