Post-tension prestressing can be done at site. This procedure may become necessary or desirable in certain cases. For heavy loads and large spans in buildings or bridges, it may be very difficult to transport a member from pre-casting plant to a job site. On the other hand, pre-tensioning can be used in pre-cast as well as in cast-in-place construction

Pre-tensioning is used for precast beams or slabs while post-tensioning is used for cast in situ construction (beams, slabs, raft , frame

Benefits of Post Tension:

Reduced Cost: Post tension slabs are excellent ways to construct stronger structures at an affordable price. There are many structures like parking garages as well as stadiums, since they are required to hold much more weight than average buildings; this slab becomes a viable option.

Flexibility in Design: The designs made with this slab are sleek, require lesser space and give way to dynamic contours. All this makes them ideal for the expression of creativity in the building design.

Lesser usage of materials: Since the post tension slab is thin, the materials used with it are also lesser. Be it the thin beams, walls or supporting pillar of buildings, this compact concrete slab does not need bulky materials.

Durability: Being a very strong substitute of the normal concrete, it lasts longer.

Benefits of Pre-Tension:

1.     High quality Factory production ensures good and consistent quality production of concrete beams, with minimal supervision

2.     Shorter project lead-time: Casting of beams and construction work on site are able to progress simultaneously, reducing overall project lead-time.

3.     Ease of construction: Pre-casting of beams are done at factory, hence no scaffolding/props/false work are required over rivers or roads.

4.    Cost saving    Expensive false works otherwise required in certain situations are done away; shorter construction duration also means lower overall costs.
