The Marketing  courses are necessary to increase the skills and capabilities for any one working in the field but these courses are not enough to create the professional persons in the marketing and Sales need real practical experience and direct dealing with customers and many contacts and meetings to understanding how to develop the products as per the client's requirements.

I think being passionate about it is the most important. And also taking courses and having experience help alot.

I think take marketing courses and get some practical experience. If you already have experience then take a course to polish your skills. Both are required to move your career further.

Marketing Courses give a structured base and guidance of where to find the target audience, how to approach them, and to efficiently deal with cross cultural clients. But a basic practical exposure is definitley required before making a career switch, depending on B2B or B2C.

Marketing cousres are important in making a career switch to the marketing field, but will not be enough to make that switch when the person does not have a hands-on experience in marketing. Those courses will enhances your conceptual abilities and it will also give you new idealogies on how to go about things in the marketing field. But with the hands-on experience will expose you to practical and operational activites in the marketing industry.
