Yes you have, there is no doubt in it.  Everything does not depend on A Service!

There are a lot more decision makings and responsibilities will be there as a Manager IT.

This is a clear yes. The job of the IT manager is expected to live on for the foreseeable future. However, what the role is expected to deliver is changing. We rather are going to see a different version of this role the next years.

Today, we are facing a consumerization of IT and it is easier for end-users to purchase software and services. However, it is the IT Manager's job, who needs to be prepared with the necessary business skills and combine them with his IT know-how, to help his org be more efficient, flexible and profitable by using the right technology the right way.

Chosing the right vendor, monitor deployment of services and platforms, managing teams of generalists and/or technicians are skills that are still going to apply to an IT manager rather than to a CIO or other type of C-role or end-user.

In my view CIO defines the strategy of IT than taking care of IT Operations. Though the IT services are tranformed by the means of automation / AAS (as a service), still managing budget, fixing the gap between IT and business, transforming the Operations in to Agile are still handled by IT Managers. Hence IT Managers life is only 5 years if he remains a traditional IT Manager. But an agile IT Manager life more than that.
