Quite an open-ended question as the most critical piece of information required to derive the importance of social media for a business is the type of business.
For Example, I work on two businesses and one of them is a B2B marketing service for Film Studios. it has no impact from the social media platforms.
On the other hand, the second business is an entertainment platform for cinema and sports and we would see a 40-50 percent decrease in traffic and thus the revenue without social media.
Stopping a company's social media interactions is like turning a patients monitors off. Social media lets a company keep its finger on the market's pulse. By turning it off your customer feedback will come to a standstill and you won't know what your customers are thinking about your company/products.
May have a negative impact, but not to a large extent, especially in Arab societies because of its lack of culture dealing with social media
Since this is a vague question, i will try and answer for two possible scenarios:
Scenario 1. Taking down Social media accounts: NOT recommended. Your facebook page has an excellent schema structure and is picked up by Google crawlers and displayed with review & business information. Usually the CTR for this search result is higher compared to the rest. More over "tag" based search over instagram is an excellent source of traffic & so is Pinterest.
Scenario 2. Not posting regularly on Social Media Platforms: This depends on the nature of business. Active social media content wouldnt apply to B2B but is a must for retail & consumer facing businessese. Organic posts dont get enough reach after FB change its method to "pay-to-play". So with a organized budget & an editorial calendar it helps your brand recall.
It will affect company digital presence which is very much important for to gain consumer trust by inteacting with customers on social platforms.
Social Media is a new source of promotions, When we see the multi billion companies, they didn't grow because of social media, social media is a small part, people don't have even time to post their pics, how they will go and promote or see ads or promotions. Social media doesn't make any sense in business only to promote between friends, that you can say that you opened up a new company or joined in a new firm

Very Badly will affect the business in a direct way not in general. It's like you enter a shop and no one care about your request.
