LDAP is an application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol (IP) network.

 

For example, here is an LDAP search translated into plain English: "Search in the company email directory for all people located in India whose name contains 'Mahmood' that have an email address. Please return their full name, email, title, and description.

 

This a (default port389) of the LDAP server. and The default port for LDAP over SSL is636
