Yes its true to some aspect but its all depends on usage of mobile phones yes its electronic device and some times produce electromagnetic signals with high aptitude; But safety measurements helps to reduce these effects:

always attend your phone call and listen from your left ear as right ear is very near to brain

Use Earphones of high quality brands as they are testing each of their product with different aspects 

Don't attend call while your phone is in charging mode as process of charging is in progress phone' battery receive the power what exactly its required and in case of extra power it discharge it through electrical signals that can hurt your heart and brain.

Use Light or Auto Brightness in phones to avoid high intensity lights that disturbs human high; light sensors in smart phone is added for this purpose its also helps in improvement of battery life !

Scientists say the signals have very low power that it does not effect us. Add to that no research or study proved that it could harm our bodies yet.
