Main role of Stirrups is to resist the shear forces & to hold the main reinforcement in position.
Stirrups are provided to hold the main reinforcement rebars together in an RCC structure. Stirrups are placed at proper intervals to beams and columns to prevent them from buckling. Also, they protect RCC structures from collapsing during seismic activities i.e. Earthquakes.

Agreed with Mr. Hussein Ali fine reply.
Thanks for the invitation. Sorry, I do not know the exact answer.
stirrups are used to tie the main bars of reinforcemts horizontal or vertical and to keep them aligned and to help in the tensile strenght of the concrete structure whether it is column , wall or beams.
To prevent buckling in the structure.
Thank you for the invitation
Agreed with colleagues
With greetings and appreciation
The main purpose of stirrups is to hold the vertical or horizontal main rebars at a firm position and avoid buckling/deformation/shear failure of column / beam. It also helps maintain and get constant clear cover along its length. It avoids the spreading of concrete towards outer side.
the benefit of strirrups is to hold solid structure to each other
