It is true that deadlines are there to make sure that you get the work done on time and you can really plan your work accordingly. However, I am curious to find out what really motivates you - deadlines or work itself.
I know this may sound crazy, but I love deadlines. Pressure makes me energetic and makes me feel important ( because with deadlines I feel that I am needed).
Deadlines are important and yes they motivate, however, unrealistic deadlines are just gonna leave employees angry and complaining about the deadline more than they work. My motivation would be more in things like, more paid holidays, leaving early if work is done.
But yes work itself can be motivating, if i feel personally challenged.
