There is a myriad of important marketing features. In Forbes newest release of marketing trends, they state that in the upcoming years 1/3 of CMOs will be let go due to insufficient skill sets. That is a bold statement and makes it tough to choose only five prominent marketing skills. With marketing, you have the opportunity to shout your message and positioning to large audiences. But, doing so in a manner that makes people listen is just as important.

There are some aspects which you should keep in mind while marketing a product::

1. Social Media Experts - Social Media has boomed over the years in both B2C and B2B worlds. Many brands and organizations flock to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote and market their products and services, as well as engaging and conversing with their audience. Almost one-third of the population are regular users of at least one social media platform. Recently, 78% of small businesses reported receiving a quarter of their new customers from social media.

2. Content Management and Marketing - Content marketing is the new norm. Oddly enough, though, a large chunk of content marketers aren't putting a comprehensive strategy behind their work. It's turning into a spray and pray kind of deal when it comes to publishing new content.

3. Website Spending Is Way Up - Marketers spent 9% of their budgets on their websites, which was the most they've ever spent in this category! On average marketing leaders have increased their website spending by 14% year-over-year. This trend has been sparked by an increased awareness of consumers digital expenditure. Executives have been revitalizing sites by making them commerce friendly, mobile responsive, and giving the user a personalized experience.

4. Email Marketing - It is more than maintaining a healthy list of emails and contacts. With email marketing, you can create segmented lists that target buyers with relevant products, services, and news based on their interests. As marketers, we don't aimlessly blast nonsense at acquaintances and prospects anymore. 1-on-1 selling can be accomplished on a large scale with marketing automation tools ( Marketo vs. Hubspot: The Marketing Automation Battleground ).

5. Digital Advertising - Two-thirds of marketing leaders, intend to increase the spending on digital advertising in 2017. But many small to mid-sized businesses struggle to maintain this skill set in-house. They are overwhelmingly looking to outsource digital advertising because of the significant overhead it takes to organize and manage an effective campaign. By working with agency partners, it frees internal teams up to regularly test new formats and methods to ensure that your digital advertising will provide the most bang for your buck. This list could go on and on, but these are my top five.

Focus on what makes the product or service different than others on the market that are similar , Where will we sell the product or service? , What incentives will we offer?  When determining the pricing structure, it’s important to be as competitive as possible without lowering the value of your product or service. When I consult with a new client, I have them consider their target audience. What do they look like? Where do they shop? Hang out? Are they online?
