Viscosity of often referred to as the thickness of a fluid. You can think of water (low viscosity) and honey (high viscosity). However, this definition can be confusing when we are looking at fluids with different densities.

At a molecular level, viscosity is a result the interaction between the different molecules in a fluid. This can be also understood as friction between the molecules in the fluid. Just like in the case of friction between moving solids, viscosity will determine the energy required to make a fluid flow.

The viscosity of a fluid is a measure of its resistance to gradual deformation by shear stress or tensile stress For liquids, it corresponds to the informal concept of "thickness"; for example, honey has a much higher viscosity than water.

Or simply to say that viscosity is the resistance of a material to flow. In polymer processing, it viscosity of molten plastics that cause the heat generation within the melt. Owing to it that molten plastics is able to be conveyed using  a screw. The size of macromolecules affect the viscosity of a polymer melt.

la viscosité c'est une caracteristique qui classe les fluides selon leurs densités qui varient proportionnellement avec leurs viscosités, ou encore la résistance d'un fluide à l'écoulement.

Viscosity is a property of the fluid which opposes the relative motion between the two surfaces of the fluid in a fluid that are moving at different velocities. When the fluid is forced through a tube, the particles which compose the fluid generally move more quickly near the tube's axis and more slowly near its walls; therefore some stress is needed to overcome the friction between particle layers to keep the fluid moving. For a given velocity pattern, the stress required is proportional to the fluid's viscosity.

The viscosity of a fluid is a measure of its resistance to gradual deformation by shear stress or tensile stressmost of paint fluid have rehology behavior " increase viscosity or  behave as solid in no shear force "and decrease its viscosity with increase shear rate

VISCOSITY is the thickness of a material or it's resistance to flow. When a fluid is more thick it has more resistance to flow and vice versa. Water is less viscous than honey, Thus has low resistance to flow.
