Before you have any discussion about wage rate you need to understand the value you bring to the organisations. eg When i worked with a large government organisation as a consultant a colleague commented that i was the highest paid person in the division. I said it is not what i cost it is what i save that is important. I had many infrastructure projects to manage and on one project alone i saved $m. in variations. My value adding wasX, a good investment. I would suggest you need to know what value you bring to the organisation to have any confidence of promoting success.

We can use the idea of meeting their expectations as a tool to negotiate salary. Like, one can say that I am fulfilling the criteria for application almost exactly and also that I am well capable of handling the pressure with raise in progress. In order to perform my best, I need to keep myself motivated from the organization.

I would go straight-forward and raise that I am suffering for few reasons of my salary, what I am doing exceeds presently my job description and therefore my salary needs to be incremented.
