Most dentists wants patients to keep show up at clinic for routine checks. It helps to prevent undetected caries, potential damages...etc, also its good for dentists to keep records of patient histories.
If you have a decent oral hygiene maintanence, and you dont have any general health problems (such as diabetes, heart conditions, applied radiotherapy procedures....etc) you dont need to show up at dental clinic every 6 months. If you feel good, and you think everything is fine, may be skipping a year wouldn't do much harm. But "years pass" can be a problem. I suggest you to say "Hi!" to your dentist, as soon as you can. Cheers!
People with a high risk of dental disease might need to visit dentist every 3 or 4 months.others need checkup every 6 months.
you should visit a dentist every six months for check up and it is not okay to pass a year without visiting a dentist at least once for check up
if you maintain proper hygiene of your teeth than you don't need to visit a dentist daily , you can reduce your visit to a dentist by maintaining proper cleanliness and by adopting proper eating methods and precautions while eating,
