Negotiations is never luck.  It is lots of experiences that are being put together and devoted to service a purpose.

You cannot be lucky in winning something that you negotiate by luck.  You have to work as if you are playing Chess.  Do you win chess by luck ? :)

If you will be waiting for luck to win a negotiation, you will have to wait too long!

Negotiation requires first :

- Very good preparation ( Market, Material/services required, alternatives etc)

- As much information as you can gather about other party

- Well defined plan and target ( can be more than one)

- Ethical Tactics

- Patience

- Systematic approach to your target if more than one item is to be negotiated

- Priority system

- Positive and High confidence in your self

- Know your strengths and your opponent's  strengths & weaknesses

- Be ready for any surprises

- After all its a game of who can win more and not necessary win or loss choice.
