Thanks for the invitation.

Yes he can change industry to deal with the supply chain of the new industry. There is no age limit of learning new things for a human being. A professional having rich experience of supply chain at the age of plus will be capable to easily absorb new products while he will already be the master of supply chain development and management.

An interesting question..there are many facets to the answer based on the reason 'why the want and need to switch'. It becomes more increasingly difficult to secure a role after 50+. If the position is already lined up and secure, I would say yes. If you are leaving to seek opportunity and looking for a market opening, then get ready for dissappointment.

With gain comes sacrifice, and depending on the new industry and how much experience you may have specifically relating to that industry, there is a better than average chance that the new role will not be at the same level you were at and there will be changes to core skill requirements.

You must want to make the change for valid reasons and not based on a 'whim'. 'Very experienced' is nothing without a formal educational background.

Switching industry after 2 year period is OK. That allows a professional to face new and different challenges.

Its not matter how many years do people have experience . its not matter how old they are . its matter how much they have learned and experienced from that years. an under aged professional may have more knowledge than an old man.

If you mean to change industry while still be in logistics & SC then it is beneficial and you can easily implement what you learned in one industry in another, compare the two industries , learn from the new one and increase your knowledge. In fact I would recommend this to all managers/managers to be so that their experience becomes richer and varied. This will allow them to have more that one approach to the solve problem especially tricky ones.

Yes.  Switching industry after age of 50 is well recommended for a professional with ability

(a) to learn new things / processes

(b) to disperse acquired knowledge effectively

(c) to deliver results confidently

(d) to utilize the real life learnings to improve overall performance

(e) to adopt to changing business and management concepts

(f) to guide the team in the right direction with well balanced approach

(g) to inculcate good work ethics amongst all

It may also depend on the outlook of the person in question. For example, one can take a decision to follow his passion in life by taking a break after age of 50.

Importance is to know what will help attain self-satisfaction and how to achieve it.

This could be fantastic depending on the personal development plan of the employees.

The other good part is that the employee can make the industry he is joining benefit from his experience and learn new exciting things.

I wont say it is recommended yet many of the big businesses took place after 50 so no worry. The youth is the youth of the mind and not the body my friend.
