Leadership is a skill that is inborn to a person and it can be improved by taking on various projects on the job.  Books that inspire are 1.  How to win Friends and influence People by Dale Carneigie.  2.  The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey.  3.  The Magic of thinking big By David J Shwartz

Reading these books helped me achieve the goals I planned for in career and personal life.  It teaches you to learn from a situation and build that situation into a solution in your life and lifts you up higher and focus on the solutions in life not the circumstances that will pull you down.  It helps you think positively and persevere in every difficult face of diversity and change blend in with culture and win in every situation.

Instead of learning books he should read the Biographies of great leaders , the situations or hardships they faced & what was their response or behavior to overcome it.
