I think that Linkedin is so far the best platform for getting in touch with businesses. So my approach is simple-
First, send them an invite with a good friendly message saying that why you want to connect with them. E.g. I am an environmental engineer and we sell environmental services and technologies, in order to do that I always approach the top management industry people who are into corporates because these people are the decision maker.
Then I send them a message saying that-
Dear Sir,
We’ve never met, but your profile came up when I was trying to find experts in HSE and sustainability. I went through your profile and was pleased to discover that we share a similar interest in health, safety, environment, and sustainability. Can we connect?Regards,

and once they accept my invitation I share with them my company profile and I have seen that people reply to my message, almost all big corporates reply either yes or no.
One more reason to approach corporate people is that because these people use LinkedIn on a daily basis for any of the reason let's say job or industry updates.
People who are there at plant level are less active (in case of India). This is my experience with digital marketing tools.
