Yes. It's always good for us try different horizons. It helps us learn new things, develops and polish our personality.

I think this kind of switching will enrich the knowledge about the subject, especially to whom have scientific background, it's about discovering the applications of what has been taught and  the practical side of sciences. Instead of that similarity, working in industry requires different attitudes, abilities and characters , so it depends on one's priorities.
