Formally link the bonus to the performance evaluation. For eg. rmployees who receive a certain score of evaluation such as "exceeds expectations" receive a greater bonus amount than employee who are rated as "satisfactory" or "needs improvement". However, we need to understand that this approach is more subjective and dependent on manager rating, which may potentially lead to employee complaints and perception of favoritism.
