Predictive Maintenance is a time based maintenance to maximize the use of the parts, equipment or machines while proactive maintenance deals with the continous and efficient performance of the equipment or machines to avoid breakdowns.

I am assuming you meant to ask the difference between Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.

Preventive Maintenance is a time based strategy, where irrespective of your equipment condition, maintenance is performed examples include Yearly oil replacement, bearing greasing, alignment verfication etc.

Predictive Maintenance, however, rely on the condition of the machine to perform maintenance. A classic example would be 4 yearly (or 6 - 8 yearly) overhaul of a pum

Predictive Maintenance, however, rely on the condition of the machine to perform maintenance. A classic example would be 4 yearly (or 6 - 8 yearly) overhaul of a pump. If you are using Preventive Maintenance you would overhaul your pump on the said frequency but if you have a strong Predicitive Maintenance Strategy in place, you would review the condition of the machine (based on performace tests carried out, oil analysis reports, Vibration analysis report etc.) and decide if you would be willing to forgo the overhaul and postpone it to the next year. Similarly, your predicitive maintenance also allows to you to perform your maitnenance ahead of the time (this would be based on the data and how your data is changing over time). Ideally, your condition monitoring engineer would let you know what actions to perform and within what time frame.

Please feel free to ask anything for clarification.

Predictive maintenance is popular and unreliable and does not last very much because its cost is not based on  basis of scientific methodology and on several factors help without study and is temporary or deferred time for failure and less cost

Preventive maintenance depend  on the basis of scientific study method is properly and is the best but expensive after the thing
