First I will describe:

Data mining/Machine Learning : It is more than statistical analysis, it discovers useful unseen information from data that can be used not only to anlalyze the records but also helps in future prediction.

In this era of information technology we have a lot of digital information of various medical records.

Some benifits of using these technique in bio-medical domain:

a. Fast an efficient analysis of lots of record which is very difficult to analyze manually.

b. Building prediction model (for predicting a desease) using patient record.

c. Identifying root causes for patient condition etc...

Hi Nahed,

It's been such an interesting area and the  focus of the medical device design and R&D. In order to simplify the usability of the medical device, lots of effort now focusing on the design compatibility between the device function and the automated/robotic systems used such as the surgical instruments used in the OBGYN area. In one of my previous projects, I had to ensure that the design of the surgical instruments used during the hysterectomy operations are compatible to be used with the "Davinci" system which is generally used in surgical operations.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,

Yasser
