Orthodontic Treatment

Insufficient retainer use is the main reason for orthodontic relapse. This condition occurs when your teeth begin to move back toward their original position, as they were before treatment. It is estimated that more than 50% of patients experience some amount of relapse within 10 years after treatment.

Hello, and thank you for your confidence on mee. To be honest relapse in orthodontic treatment depend in the patient ( behaviour ,following or not orthodontist'recommandations, not to be absent in control appointement after achieving his treatment) and in the doctor especially in the technic ; such technic , biomecanic ,appliances used, relapse more then other. In the philosophy that the doctor choose to achieve his case , generally some doctors treat one side of the problem and "forget"to take attention to the other sides. That 's why treatment may relapse.A clinical case in orthodontic should be treated in 3D dimension transversale, vertical then sagittal using à strong and unrelapsed technic. Cordially Doctor zouha Boughattas

RELAPSE IS COMMONLY SEEN POST-ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT ESPECIALLY IF COMPLIANCE WITH RETAINER WEAR IS QUESTIONABLE.

RELAPSE MAINLY DEPENDS ON THE EXISTING MALOCCLUSION PRIOR TO TREATMENT, SOME MALOCCLUSIONS ARE SELF RETAINING AND HAVE LITTLE TENDENCY FOR RELAPSE WHILE OTHERS REQUIRE LONG TERM RETENTION AND ARE MORE NOTORIOUS FOR RELAPSE.

YES, I HAVE SEEN RELAPSE OWING TO FACTORS RELATED TO GROWTH OF FACIAL STRUCTURES, ERUPTION OF THIRD MOLARS ETC.
