The best way to handle difficult behaviour in my staff is to approach him/her in a calm manner. Having conversation and observation with my staff is one of the best way to know the root of their behaviour. Thus, I can talk  and discuss with him/her the problem and solution, and also, give him/her a chance to talk and know why he/she acted that way.

Experiences tell me that progressive discipline best applies to every disciplinary action a manager would take. Counselling, Verbal warning (first to third, depends), Suspesion (first to second), Termination if no improvement.
