Project Managers need to be assertive to ensure the project has a clear vision, and ultimately meets the brief, budget and deadline. That is not to say they should be aggressive; PMs need to express themselves with clarity and confidence to steer the project but also ensure they respect the rights of the team to share their opinions and views, in order to maintain cohesion.

All teams are different and have different needs, and all PMs will have an individual style of communicating with their team in order to motivate, mentor, and manage the project to a good outcome, both for the team and the client.
