If you are a non-technical facility professional how did u adress it?
In facility management, if its soft service then it's not required however if you are going for hard service like Electrical, mechanical, plumbing services then you have to have technical background
I think without technical background nobody can work on this position. As i am working more than 20 years in this field. I know I have to deal many issues technical. Specially when I have controlling more than 200 staff under me and all are the good technician and engineers. If a Facility professional don't have good technical background he cannot lead a good team. He cannot resolve the technical issues of the premises under him. Even not technical background but also have to update technical equipment, machines, tools, solutions and new technology for success.
Technical Background in all sorts are significant because it will be your guide and pattern for the needed job to be done successfully.
Technical background is very essential to work in FM , Because we cant rectifify the issues of things when we created the things. Cant rectify the issues without having thorough knowledge of system. Please note that buildind or equipment is live and we are keep the building or system live at all time.
Definitely should have a technical background. To support team and address issues the technical background would play a major role.
