The first generation computers were used during 1942-1955. They were based on vacuum tubes. The second generation computers used transistors. The Third generation computers used the integrated circuits (ICs). The fourth generation computers started with the invention of Microprocessor. The Microprocessor contains thousands of ICs. The 5th Generation is based on the technique of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Computers can understand spoken words & imitate human reasoning. Can respond to its surroundings using different types of sensors. The 5th Generation Intel Core (U series) processors utilize Intel’s new 14nm process technology to improve upon the 4th generation Intel Core processor’s success with 35 percent more transistors on a 37 percent smaller dye. The new process, combined with architectural enhancements, enables the 5th Generation Intel Core processors to deliver up to 24 percent better graphics performance, up to 50 percent faster video conversion and battery life that is up to 1.5 hours longer. The first Intel processor used 65nm architecture and now they use 14nm architecture (huge difference). The ability of industry of computer manufacturer is to produce ever-faster single CPU systems began to be threatened. linked to Moore's Law about the periodic doubling of transistor counts) Ordinary consumer machines and game console began to have parallel processors like the Intel Core, AMD K10, and microprocessor. Graphics card companies like Nvidia and AMD began introducing large parallel systems like CUDA and open(CL).However, it is not clear that these developments were facilitated in any significant way by the Fifth-Generation project.
