I personally like notepad++, but you can't go wrong with sublimetext.
Also a new commer is Visual stdio code, and alot of people are loving it.
it really doesn't matter as long as you know what you are doing, it's only a matter of personal prefrence
I have been using Sublime Text so far and I feel its the best. Light-weight and the new version 3 has flat minimal design which look cool. Also it is highly customizable according to your taste!
Atom, because it is light and supported all programming languages I used so far.
