aspect ratio is the width to fight ratio in ducts which shouldnt exceed 4:1 as per ASHRAE

HVAC Duct width to height ratio is called Aspect Ratio. Maximum aspect ratio permitted by ASHRAE is 4:1( W : H)

The ratio of width and height of the duct is called Aspect ratio. The value which is closer to 1 is the most preferred duct. And the aspect ratio lies in between 1 to 9.
