Though email and telephone Customer Service has the same weight when it comes to providing information, I would still prefer telephone Customer Service because it is more personalized and sincere than emails.
Hearing the polite and friendly voice of a telephone operator can help keep loyal customers for a long time which eventually leads to 100% repeat transactions in the future.

I see the points for the telephone but I would pick 'email' for that extra care because:1.
Less intrusive - telephone calls can disturb customers, they may be in meetings etc and unable talk and have to cut the call short or not give the call their undivided attention.2.
Access - Customers can read email at any time and are more likely to give a response, even if only a simple 'Thank you.'3.
The email is there, they have your name and contact details and can easily contact you when ready.
With a call, they details could be easily forgotten.4.
An email can have name and details of the company, thereby keeping the company's name in the customer's mind.
