What is the difference between "Erection & Commissioning" and "Testing & Commissioning"?

I'm an entry level electronic engineer having above2 years experience in engineering services & maintenance industry in Pakistan. My responsibilities at previous jobs include installation, commissioning and regular maintenance activities of different machines like X-Ray scanning & explosive detection machines and CAT Generator sets. I'm trying to get hired using my previous here in UAE but I find difficulty in differentiating "Erection & Commissioning" and "Testing & Commissioning". Kindly elaborate and guide me.

Erection & Commissioning stage is construction work including placing equipment (motor, turbine etc) and cable installation including their accessories.

Testing & Commissioning stage is started from loop test from all field instrument (until complete) & then run solo test for motor/turbine.

lets try to make this simple , taking an example of a motor

erection is mainly installing the motor in its place , earthing the motor , performing cable testing (insulation and continuity) and connecting the cables to the motor.commissioning is the same as testing and commissioning , for example for the motor it will be something like solo run testing while taking the related measurements some engineers include the cable testing in the commissioning and some include them in the pre commissioning , not a big difference in my personal opinion.

Erection and commissioning and testing is a systematic and sequential process,  the starting up of the plant which include the Loop-|Checking to Pre-Commissioning and to final start up. and testing & Commissioning stage is started from loop test from all field instrument then run solo run test for motor.

Erection basically is Insallation of the Instruments like Tubing, Cable, Instruments and then During Commissionign of them to be sure as per the standard and recommended drawings and specificatin. whereas Testing Commissioning is the process for starting up of the plant which include the Loop-|Checking to Pre-Commissioning and to final start up.

Erection is similar to installation however erection is to install something piece by piece that rises up for e.g. we describe the installation of a crane as erection of the crane; installation of scaffoldling as erection of scaffolding. Similarly the piece by piece installation a bridge, a tower, a mechanical structure, etc. that rises up in height, is considered as erection.

Commissioning means to bring the installed thing into running as per the required professional standards.

Testing means to confirm the installed device is running with complete functionality and it is delivering the required output.

Erection and commissioning is a systematic and sequential process, the performance of which requires a great deal of expertise and experience. Following this philosophy since our inception we have earned a successful track record in this field.

Errection and commissioning is used for new project which going to execute. while testing is related to perticular equipment functionality by demonstrated parameters and settings.

Erection & Commissioning are project stages related terms: Erection is part of Construction phase while testing is part of pre-commissioning stage, this is in general.

in relation to Mech./ Piping, erection is a construction activity which involves installing above ground piping spools on pipe supports, hydro-testing is an integrity / strength check which is done by pressurizing the piping system (with water as a medium) to a specified pressure (above design limit) for a certain duration to ensure that the system is safe to operate within design parameters and no failures due to material strength or system integrity will occur.
