I think it varies from country to contry. When I used to work in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, I saw more male patients whereas now in UK I see relatively more female patients. It may well be due the fact that females are more concious of aesthetics but an important factor is local culture as well. In some countries, females have to depend on males to get access to dentistry so their attendance is limited.
Females visit more frequently to the dentist than Males because:-
1)-they are more conscious about their AESTHETICS.
2)-to achieve more appraisal and avoid social stigma.
3)-moreover,females have less tolerance to pain(low threshold frequency to pain).
These people also reported more symptoms than other participants, suggesting ... of neuroticism are more likely to seek medical care than those low in neuroticism (Friedman, ... Women tend to report more body symptoms and distress than men ... and as such, they show the greatest reluctance to see a health professional.
