Yes.
Forcus on transferrable skills.
Business Analyst and BI Analyst both require analytical skills, critical and innovative thinking and some degree of perfect number pitch, and the ability to see from a big picture and see connections.
Most popular BI softwares include Qlickview, Tableau, Power BI and SAP. They dont require hardcore programming skills - knowing anyone of them gives you a huge legup to adjust to the others, again - transferrable skills.
But then again, having shoes on doesnt mean you're waling - knowing how to visualise data doesnt make you a great analyst, the ability to deliver critical information and intelligence and to communicate it effectively to influence business objective is the key to a great analyst. But of course, knowing how to navigate those tool creatively stands you out.
Yes, BA can move into BI Analyst role. Both roles don't require hardcore programming but one has to know scripting and basic programming as BI requires data to be pulled from various sources and programming knowledge such as PL/SQL is needed during those tasks. Sometime you have to write or debug procedures which are pulling the data or during ETL.
Business Intelligence does not require a programming knowledge, but it is surely a big advantage. Especially PL/SQL, and SQL. However there is a part included as a part of the business intelligence known as Data Warehousing, it requires some programming knowledge to implement it.
Business Intelligence Analyst tasks can be achieved through some BI tools like QlikView, Tableau, and PowerBI ... etc. without the need to learn a programming language to accomplish.
