NO. Though the role of a marketer is to sell the product and it is a MUST by the company. But for me I strongly disagree on that because a good sales person must sell the product not just because of the good and sweet words but must be because you are confident for customer’s satisfaction. Yes. You sell the bad product but how about the reputation of your company, how about those complaints and how about the return customers? Of course all of this would be nothing and would cause problem to the company. As a marketer you must be aware of good customer service and customer’s satisfaction without lying.
well when questions are in general and not in a specific form usually answers should be taken in several aspects, in my opinion even excellent marketing can not save a bad product , low quality product while sometimes we face great products with acceptable marketing even cannot be saved example: NOKIA, SONY, MOTOROLA they invested in big marketing and did not succeed to increase market shares, on the other hand good products like SAMSUNG, APPLE, HUAWAI, LENOVO with good marketing but succeeded to increase there market shares
usually products are divided in4 forms:
- Convinience products (frequently bought products, like supermarket) does not need special effort in marketing
- Shopping products (where consumer needs to compare)
- Speciality products (like brand names, with special specs and services yes marketing is a must)
- unsought products (products that are needed immediatly where ususally customer does not know well about them yes they need additional advertisment, push sales, marketing effort.
Maybe we should ask about marketing for low quality products?
markets are in need of all types of products even low quality ones, because marketing is a costly procedure not all products can afford marketing spending. ads, special sales programs usually brands and similar companies invest in marketing, low quality products and bad products in my opinion fall into the trading canal where you make commercial hits with minimum profitability in order to win quick money and not for long term continuity (usually cannot afford marketing spending).

NO. Having a great marketing skills itself is a talent, and using your talent to ruin someone else's experience isn't going to help in long run. Everyone is smart enough in todays world to judge if something is good for them or not. So promoting a bad product is just going to hamper your image in people's eyes.
Certainly, good marketing can sell the product even if it is of good quality but this will cause the loss of customer confidence which leads to great losses for the company. This does not prevent the company marketing the product of low quality but I recommend that the marketing process is very honest in clarifying the disadvantages and advantages Product to win customer trust
