It will indeed take a great leader to create a unique balance between both to ensure success of the origanization. However, which of these needs take priority depends upon level of responsibility and human interaction asscoiated with the leadership position. At mid management level, it would be extremely important to maintain a balance between company and employee needs. At the higher level of management; however, company interests take priority. This is why tough decisions like layoffs need to be made by leaders like CEOs to ensure survival of the company.
