Content writing is a form of online writing which is closely linked to web marketing campaigns. This means creating the writing which appears on websites that are designed to sell or promote a specific product.
Content writers work according to the brief provided by a client whereas copy writers use persuasive products features to create awareness and position product in minds of buyers and target audience
As you can see, copywriting is content, but content is not copywriting (it’s a square is a rectangle kind of thing). Content potentially extends far beyond writing, and can be videos, infographics, images, and other assets.
A content writer focuses on enticing the audience and entertaining them, where as a copywriter is more focused on delivering a message with the main aim being advertising.

copy writing just copy as it is ...whilr content writing you have to read well and understand so you can summarize the content
The purpose of content writing is to facilitate a productive engagement with the audience, yielding trust and interest towards the product or service over time. Instead of a one-time sale, content writing aims to keep the audience engaged and motivated enough to share the content with their own social media profile, stay in touch with the business, and eventually, consider the business in their purchase decision.
Copywriting, meanwhile, is aimed towards the short-term goal of generating a one-time transaction.
A copywriter is essentially a business writer - they are able to alter their tone to sound like the brand voice for the company. They also use psychological triggers to motivate the reader to follow through with whatever call of action they have. They also write using words that build rapport with their target audience. They can do this as a content writer too, however, content writers don't neccessarily know all this. Often times content writers are good at writing and if you hire the right one then they're also knowledable of the subject matter at hand. They don't necessarily use different writing techniques but are able to present the topic is a cohesive, easily digestable way so people read what they have to do say.
