Bitdefender detects more viruses and vulnerabilities than any anti-malware software. The performance of the free version is identical to the paid version with the difference that the paid version has more security tools than just an antivirus (a firewall, a password manager, vpn, anti-theft, file shredder... and many more)

It's available on Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS.

Dear Lina Samer,

Thank you for projecting this question.

Based on what many colleagues in here suggested, I would highly recommend that you for a 'paid' antivirus service. Free antiviruses usually 'sell' your search information to third parties, hence compromise your personal security.

For 2018, BitDefender, Norton, and Kaspersky seem to have the highest rankings.

Here are a couple of links where you could get additional information

  1. Top Ten Reviews
  2. TechAdvisor

I hope this review would help you make a better choice,

PS: If you have a Mac, I would still strongly advise having an antivirus for the following reasons. (1) dormant viruses even though not affecting your files, however, they might affect your performance. (2) If you are exchanging files on USB drives, then dormant (windows) viruses may be exchanged, hence you will be exposing the receiving computers with any viruses.

Have a good day,

Ali
