to suspend current telnet session press ctrl-shift-6 and then press the x key. press enter to reume current session. close telnet session by typing exit. to view active telnet sessions: #sh sessions command (default session indicated by an asterix)

telnet is an excellent troubleshooting tool with upper layer functionality because the ability to reach devices using telnet indicates that lower connectivity exists between the devices
