Sometimes I say things like, "If you never make a suggestion about how we can make things better, that's a very clear way of telling that you don't want to work here."
However, when staff don't make suggestions it usually means that the management punish them for speaking up. Remember, it's ALWAYS the team leader's fault. What are you doing wrong that prevents your team from making suggestions?
In other words - as so often when managing humans - stop thinking about how to make them do things, and start thinking about how you are preventing them. Put yourself in the shoes of a junior team member: how would you feel about making a suggestion?
Be soft and humble ;
Do not act as a boss or a manager (this will make a feeling to them that you are one of them)
Convey them that you are here to seek their assistance and inputs to make a strategic decision;
Be a good listener ;
Be attentive;
Keep mobiles , messaging systems away from the meeting;
Show them , you are attentive and listening their viewpoints..
Do not give your own thoughts or argue with the participant when someone expresses their ideas;
You engage them by asking directly to each member about their views
Most of the time it helps - when leading meetings, you need to call on people directly. As soon as team member begins conversation he/she goes deeper. Team leader should know key value of every person, as well he should know who like to speak and who doesnt. With the correct question to team member you can give more encourage to the person and of course to the all team.
As a team leader during meeting i must be priorities to my team members to give their free openiones including all positive and negative sides.Beacuse that the way to make a free & good invironment among all of the team meembers.A VERY GOOD RELATIONSHIP BUILD UP TO THE TEAM,to ACHIEVE THE TARGETED GOAL.
